Hello! It's Amanda, the Town of Marana Management Assistant! Just like Breanne, I am part of the working group that has been tackling the Strategic Plan update from Mayor and Council. Since this is the guiding document for the Town and policy decisions, this is a vital process to Marana's future.

There are five focus areas in our plan: Commerce, Community, Progress & Innovation, Recreation and Heritage. The working group has been going through all focus areas, initiatives and strategies that Council has made priorities for the next two years. This is our first update and there are many initiatives that the Town has accomplished since 2009. This time, we are focusing more on broad and more strategic goals rather than specific projects. This allows Town staff to take Council guidance and apply their unique skills set to reach out and get that initiative done. It is a fascinating process.

It getting close to the date we would like to present the updated draft to Council with everyone's comments and suggestions for approval. Because of this, the working group has been and will continue to meet each day this week to nail down language and definitions.

Keep checking back to see what happens next in the process. Once the draft is approved, we will begin the rollout and launch to staff and the public for comment. It's just another example of the commitment Council and staff have to transparency and accountability. Make sure your opinions are heard when the time comes.

Moving through Community Focus Area

Just had another working group meeting.  We are working through the Communtiy Focus Area of the Strategic Plan, the secion where Council's commitment to building a safe and dynamic community is most obvious. The editing process is going well, and there is a great team of people participating in the working group, all of whom are committed to keeping Marana a safe, clean and healthy community. Just a little further to go before the draft is ready for the January 10 Council Study Session.

Working Group update

Hi everyone, this is Breanne. I am the Council Liaison and part of the working group for the update to the Marana Strategic Plan. It's been two years since our first plan and we have accomplished so much. Now, the Council has reviewed the existing plan and modified it to further reflect the direction in which the members would like to see the Town grow. Staff then had its chance to review the updates and determine strategies to complete the Council's vision. The working group has been busy revamping the language and getting it ready for the public comment part of the update process. Be sure to check back for more updates as we move forward.
